Message from the Board - Restrictive Covenant
Many years and several presidents ago, with direction by the majority of Homeowners, the Carma roofing standards was upheld with a legal opinion obtained to enforce these standards. The board maintains this position that we should keep the original standards as set out by CARMA regarding the Restrictive Covenant for approved roofing materials. If we do not uphold everyone to these standards, it would not be fair but more importantly, we could clearly risk angering the majority who have abided by the CARMA standards.
Although this is not been a pleasant task, it is part of the agreement that everyone who purchases a home in Whitemud Creek and becomes a member of the WCHA to abide by the restrictive covenant to retain the property values of the homes in the WCHA. Be a good neighbor, by being the eyes and the ears of the community and inform your neighbors of the importance of what is set out for everyone and the expectations of the restrictive covenant.
The reminder notice is included in the yearly AGM notice that is sent out to the members.
Security Surveillance System Upgrade
Over the past several years, we have had cars loitering, vehicle break-ins, in 2019 the slip and fall legal case. In 2021, several situations occurred, the Canada Post mailboxes were broken into multiple times, the signs at The Point vandalized, suspicious meetings at the clock tower and hall parking lot, and hate crime and verbal harassment. The security system serves as a deterrent and also evidence if required in any of these situations. The base system has been setup as a first step and the board will review the options for the next step in this process.
New Planters
This winter we have gained in beauty. The new planters have arrived and they are looking festive and seasonal with evergreen boughs, ribbons and pinecones. (See how they look in the slideshow)
Neglected Properties.
It has been brought to the Boards attention that some homeowners are allowing their properties to fall in a state of disrepair by not maintaining the outer appearance of their homes, yards, or fences (cedar & wrought iron).
This detracts from the community as a whole and has the potential to cause disagreements amongst neighbours. Please assist WCHA by doing your part as a responsible homeowner to maintain your property to the standard this community deserves.
